of class and spirit
hmm i suggest that u all should go get a username for once... all use linglius7e... a bit hard to tell all of u apart...
but on to [edit]wk's[/edit] post... wow dun we ask ourselves this qn all the time? seems that our special class arrangment makes us a class in name... but is it a class in spirit, i wonder?
do we look like a class? nope. do we feel like a class? not... really. this icky feeling of being somewhere in between brings up quite some trouble, right? communication is quite sparse and erratic... and it is much much easier for us to stay in our groups instead of attempting to make small talk.
but i don't think we're really split... irreconciliable. in fact, i would really feel quite sad if a real split occurs... i treat some of them as genuine class members. people that i actually bother about. of course, some are simply not worth the trouble and i'll happily say bbye! but u'll always find these types in whichever class u go to. a class is not simply made up of ppl that u like. it will have its distinct characteristics... a identity that separates it from the other boring classes... one that all in it approve of and love... one that links us all together.
of course... once i mention 'identity', some things will come into mind. one distinct character of our class is that it is... simply divided, no? and this is hard to ignore. it is a tag that we cannot shake off. don't u get the feeling that unless this issue is solved, we won't ever feel like a class?
hmm. realise, however, that this is not an identity. it is simply a description of our class. that's like saying our singapore identity is that we are a small country. do we want to be divided? nope.
as u can see, all hope is not lost. cos, itz going to be a very trying experience, but it is not impossible. i felt my previous class took a year before feeling like a class and less like a collection of individuals... but the pieces fell together and i really have very happy memories of my class. i hope that it would be the same too for us. but first, we hav to acknowledge their presence and start from there...
