Didn't realise mizwang actually created the blog after that particular tutorial period :D Haha thanks mizwang. Indeed it's an amalgamation of the cheena and the ang moh - quite befitting our class.
Guess our class is 'special' in some way. Never really thought there would be enough inspiration to start up a class blog 1/4 way into JC life.. let's see how long it lasts :) Hopefully longer than our senior class' blog la. Possibly many interesting/fond memories here will be reminiscened over after several months/years have passed on and when we're wondering what really happened to our time in college.
Umm I'm not used to blogging. Never really did it on a consistent basis. But will try to help let this blog live on.. heh. Semi-nocturnal so very weird hours. Maybe weird post content too :P
Drifting on - Have you ever wondered what bonds people together? If you've hung around established online communities (e.g. forums, interest groups) and games you'd likely find a pretty close-knitted community or core there. Despite not knowing each other in RL and only interacting via faceless, purely language-based mediums (lacking inflexions, tone, body language, emoting one's innate character) somehow people seem to be able to form relationships that would never have occured in real life.
In the online world, it's an entirely different scenario altogether from what you'd expect. People whom you think are muggers are actually people smart, diplomatic and DO have a 'life', whatever you perceive it to be. People coming across as popular in real life might be despised online due to the way they come across. And the closet extroverts may suddenly find themselves with a cult of personality, extending via reputation.
There's a slight realisation here, in that perception and desire is key in forming relationships. It doesn't matter whether deep down you're a nice person or a jerk; if the you've put up a facade that's socially acceptable within a certain group, there's a tendency for the formation of ties, even if you don't truly know the person. In a slightly larger context, we could possibly extrapolate that cliques form both as a result of common interests and due to the desire for people to seek security and cover our fears -- the 'groupie' syndrome to shield one another against the foreign reality surrounding us.
Bah the above was typed out after reading certain things and being extremely bored and blanked out while trying to finish up some *four letter word*. So it might or might not be really clear/thought out, but, bleargh.
Think I'll end off with a joke to counter whatever blur content there is up there.

Silly joke from UTLA Comedian Challenge thread:
It was the first day of school and a new student named Martinez, the son of a Mexican restaurateur, entered the fourth grade.
The teacher said, "Let's begin by reviewing some American history. Who said "Give me Liberty, or give me Death?"
She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Martinez, who had his hand up. "Patrick Henry, 1775." "Very good! Who said 'Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from this earth'?"
Again, no response except from Martinez, "Abraham Lincoln, 1863." The teacher snapped at the class, "Class, you should be ashamed. Martinez, who is new to our country, knows more about its history than you do."
She heard a loud whisper, "Screw the Mexicans." "Who said that?" she demanded. Martinez put his hand up. "Jim Bowie, 1836." At that point, a student in the back said, "I'm gonna puke." The teacher glares and asks "All right! Now, who said that?" Again, Martinez says,"George Bush to the Japanese Prime Minister, 1991."
Now furious, another student yells, "Oh yeah? Suck this!" Martinez jumps out of his chair waving his hand and shouts to the teacher, "Bill Clinton, to Monica Lewinsky, 1997!" Now with almost a mob hysteria someone said, "You little shit. If you say anything else, I'll kill you." Martinez frantically yells at the top of his voice, "Gary Condit to Chandra Levy, 2001." The teacher fainted. And as the class gathered around the teacher on the floor, someone said, "Oh shit, we're in big trouble."
Martinez said, "Saddam Hussein, 2003"
